Alfa Romeo Time Trial Events
The Alfa Romeo Club of Southern California (AROSC) holds 6-7 time
trial events a year. The cars that attend are usually split into
four run groups: Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced, and the Race
Group. The safety equipment that you need to have particpate are:
On Saturday, your run group with be on the track for three or four twenty five minute runs on the track. Passing is only allowed on the straights, no passing in the turns unless you are in the Race Group and have a rollbar. On Sunday morning, you will get two runs on the track, and in the afternoon the time trials begin. Each person gets one warmup lap, five electronically timed laps, and one cool down lap. About six or seven cars with similar lap times are on the track at the same time, and they are spaced out about 15 seconds apart. Results are posted at the end of the day, and cars are grouped in classes according to how much horsepower/weight your car has. The Race Group does not participate in the Time Trials, they have a 10-15 Lap race at the end of the day for bragging rights.
The AROSC Time Trial Events are run by a great group of people. They are friendly, competitive, and are much more organized than other track events that I have been to. There is typically a wide assortment of cars at each event, ranging from NSXs to Ferraris, BMWs, Alfas, RX7s, CRXes, Thunderbirds, MR2s, Porsches, etc.
All in all, a great event, and I highly recommend you get your NSX (or any other car!) on the track and have some fun with it.
